William S. Hayes was born in Texas and moved around the Southwest before settling in Seattle at the age of seven. He grew up in the middle of a burgeoning Northwest skateboard and music scene before drugs took their toll. After doing time in various institutions around the country, Hayes got clean, and moved to Long Beach, California, and is currently working on his next book.
