Allan MacDonell is the author of Prisoner of X: 20
Years in the Hole at Hustler Magazine and Punk
Elegies, which centers on characters and
consequences met writing for 1970s L.A. punk
zine Slash. 2018’s Now That I Am Gone is
MacDonell’s memoir of his life as it carries on
without him. The Scary Parts is his first book to not
exploit himself as protagonist.
